Waddlepalooza: A Warm Farewell
Let's celebrate our Penguin Palooza pals, share favorite memories, and give these special birds a send-off filled with love before this beloved exhibit warms up and transforms into a new home for our African Penguin population.
Think back to your first visit to Penguin Palooza. Maybe you were a child pressed against the glass, watching these playful penguins waddle through the snow, dive into the icy depths, or hop onto their snow-capped rocky cliffs. Maybe you've even snapped a photo with their iconic Arctic exhibit in the background or brought your own little ones to experience the magic. However you've experienced these special birds, they've likely waddled their way into your heart, and maybe your camera roll, too!
Penguin Palooza is currently home to four species of penguins, including King, Gentoo, Chinstrap and Macaroni. Watch them through the largest viewing window at the aquarium as they hop up the snow-capped rocky cliffs, play in the seasonal snow pile and splash in the frigid water of this Antarctic exhibit.
Come Say Goodbye Before They Waddle Away!
Meet the Flock Stars
Warm up to some of the feathered personalities in Penguin Palooza
Meet Sunshine
Gentoo
At 27, Sunshine is easily recognized by the purple band on her left wing and is known for her bubbly, sassy personality, love of chasing bubbles and watching snow fall, and stubborn refusal to open her beak at mealtime, even for her favorite caretakers!

Meet Clifford
Macaroni
This devoted Macaroni penguin takes nest duty to heart, fiercely guarding his territory and carefully incubating his eggs. He’s basically the helicopter dad of the penguin world, and his nest is his pride and joy. But even the most dedicated dads have a weakness, and Clifford’s is capelin! When he’s not busy protecting his nest, he’s probably waiting for his favorite fish like a dad waiting for his takeout order. You can spot this feathered family man by the blue band on his right wing.

Meet Wednesday
King
Hatched at Newport Aquarium in 2010, 16-year-old Wednesday is easily recognized by the yellow band on her left wing and is part of three generations of penguins alongside her dad, Kroger, and daughter, Kevin, but when it comes to mealtime, her big personality and impatience take over as she pushes her way to the front of the line and makes sure her caretakers keep the fish coming!

Meet Lloyd
Gentoo
Lloyd is a lovable goofball with a serious talent for stealing the spotlight! Easily identified by the black band on his right wing, he’s devoted to his mate, Sunshine, but that doesn’t stop him from turning on the charm for everyone else. His favorite things include chasing bubbles, enjoying his personal platter of silverside fish, and making sure he’s the center of attention. Stand near the glass, and you might hear Lloyd’s signature low growl before he “talks” to Sunshine or his caretakers. Think of it as his way of saying, “Excuse me, you forgot to admire me!”
