What happens at Newport Aquarium after the lights go out? Which animals sleep and which animals get active? Which animals use the cover of darkness to hunt or eat?
Your Aquarium After Dark scout adventure begins as you enter the Aquarium after public operating hours and are greeted by a special animal ambassador. After the encounter, your scouts will have a chance to satisfy their nighttime cravings at a pizza party with a creepy, crawly twist! They’ll learn about the eating habits of some the Aquarium’s residents, including bugs and worms. They may even get to try one themselves – covered in candy of course!
Next, your scouts will experience sunset under the sea in Shark Ray Bay Theater! They’ll discover what the sharks and some of their favorite fishy friends do when the sun falls below the horizon and the moon fills the sky in a magical twilight reveal. They’ll learn about animal nocturnal super powers – like enhanced night vision or sleeping with half their brain awake! Plus, your scouts will get to meet another animal ambassador and learn how they are perfectly adapted for their adventures after dark.
Everything they learn throughout the evening will help your scouts on their after-dark scavenger hunt. They’ll even receive a neon glowstick to use to light their exclusive twilight journey through the Aquarium.
Tickets are $49.99 per person and includes exclusive after-hours admission to Newport Aquarium beginning at 7:15pm and ending at 11:15pm. Pizza party, special scheduled activities and a self-guided twilight tour with scavenger hunt are also included with admission. Plus, all scouts will receive a souvenir patch!
Tickets must be purchased in advance. Late arrivals may miss out on scheduled activities and programming. Children under 2 years old are free.
